Presentation

I have been with the Department of Mechatronics of the Mechanical Engineering Division at Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) since 2009. This is a leading educational and research Brazilian institution focused on aeronautics, whose most apparent contribution was the knowledge support for creating Embraer. For more information about ITA, see www.ita.br.

Regarding my educational activities, I have been contributing to both undergraduate and graduate programs. In particular, I have been teaching control theory and practice for the undergraduate Mechanical Engineering course. For the graduate courses (master’s and Ph.D. degrees), my main research subjects are related to control, guidance, navigation, and autonomy of multirotor aerial vehicles.

My research work is focused on aerial robotics. Since 2012, I have investigated and advised (undergrad, master, and Ph.D. students) in aerial vehicles’ design, dynamic modeling, software/hardware-in-the-loop simulation, flight control and guidance laws, and navigation. For more information about my research, see my list of publications.

Regarding my personal life, I am married to Poliana, a very creative filmmaker and the love of my life! Together, in our free time, we are passionate about discovering the world by traveling, running marathons, playing the bass, the guitar, and the piano, and reading fiction literature. I also have an interest in philosophy.
